NET ZERO CALCULATION

Keeping pace with the ethical & green businesses

Roadmap for NET ZERO Calculation

1. Initial Assessment and Goal Setting

  • Understand Corporate Goals: Meet with stakeholders to understand the company’s sustainability goals and commitments.

  • Baseline Assessment: Determine the current carbon footprint by assessing all sources of emissions within the organization.

2. Data Collection and Inventory

  • Scope 1 Emissions: Collect data on direct emissions from owned or controlled sources (e.g., fuel combustion, company vehicles).

  • Scope 2 Emissions: Gather data on indirect emissions from the generation of purchased electricity, steam, heating, and cooling.

  • Scope 3 Emissions: Evaluate all other indirect emissions that occur in the value chain (e.g., business travel, supply chain activities).

3. Emissions Calculation

  • Apply Standard Methods: Use standardized calculation methods to quantify emissions from the collected data.

  • Use Reliable Tools: Employ tools and software recommended by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for accurate calculations.

4. Absolute Target Setting

  • Define Reduction Targets: Set absolute reduction targets based on the SBTi guidelines, ensuring they are aligned with the goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C.

  • Short-term and Long-term Goals: Establish both short-term (5-10 years) and long-term (2050) targets.

5. Implementation Strategy

  • Reduction Initiatives: Identify and implement initiatives to reduce emissions, such as energy efficiency improvements, renewable energy adoption, and process optimization.

  • Engage Stakeholders: Involve employees, suppliers, and customers in the reduction initiatives to ensure widespread impact.

6. Monitoring and Reporting

  • Regular Monitoring: Continuously monitor emissions to track progress towards the set targets.

  • Annual Reporting: Report progress annually in alignment with the SBTi and other relevant frameworks.

7. Verification and Adjustment

  • Third-party Verification: Have emissions data and reduction progress verified by an independent third party to ensure accuracy and credibility.

  • Adjust Strategies: Regularly review and adjust strategies and targets based on progress, new technologies, and changes in the business environment.

8. Achieving NET ZERO

  • Offsetting Residual Emissions: Once reduction targets are met, offset any remaining emissions through high-quality carbon offset projects to achieve NET ZERO status.

  • Certification and Communication: Obtain certification for NET ZERO status and communicate the achievement to stakeholders and the public.

By following this detailed roadmap, our corporate clients can effectively calculate and achieve their NET ZERO emissions goals, demonstrating leadership in sustainability and contributing to global climate efforts.
